The selection changes seasonally, so you’ll have something new to try on return visits throughout the year. A couple standouts to try include our San Francisco Sourdough and our seasonal vegan & gluten-free scone!

If you’re looking to cater an event, our VGF pastry box and breakfast platter are ideal places to start.

Everything is baked fresh with no preservatives. If you’re in the mood for great coffee, our handcrafted drinks start with beans from Methodical Coffee, a regional roastery. We offer oat milk and almond milk as plant-based alternative milks for our drinks.

Our Philosophy for Our Vegan Bakery Products

We bake everything fresh each day. Our handmade process means no preservatives. Taste and texture are a big priority for us, and all of our vegan recipes have been carefully tested to deliver a no-compromise experience. If we aren’t confident about that on a particular item, we don’t sell it.

For instance, we don’t carry vegan cheesecake for those reasons. Our other vegan cakes, however, are some of our most popular items.

Ingredient transparency is important to us, because we know it’s important to you. Our online store lists the ingredients for all our baked goods, and you can also find ingredient cards in our shops.

What To Know About Our Vegan Options (FAQ)

Where are your vegan treats made?

We bake all of our food in the same kitchen. While we take reasonable care to keep things separate, we can’t guarantee against cross contamination with non-vegan ingredients.

Are your food dyes vegan?

Yes. All of our food dyes are vegan and not tested on animals.

Pickup for online bakery orders

We require 72 hours advance notice for our online orders. This gives us adequate time to prepare your food fresh and package it with care. Once your order is ready, you can pick it up at any of our 3 locations.

Do you have an ingredient list?

Yes. You can ask one of our baristas to see an ingredient card for any of our vegan items in-store. Or while you’re here, check out our online store. You’ll find ingredients listed in each item’s product descriptions so you’ll know what you’re getting before placing an order.

What does vegan cake not include?

Eggs, milk, and dairy products are the primary cake ingredients that are substituted in vegan recipes. Vegan recipes avoid animal products, and use only plant-based ingredients.

How To Find Us In Winston-Salem

Brookstown Avenue

Our Brookstown bakery is walking distance from Old Salem. We’re on Marshall Street, right near the Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center.

4th Street Downtown

If you’re downtown, look for The Mellow Mushroom. We’re right next door. You’re in the right section of 4th Street when you’re between Jeffrey Adams on Fourth and Jimmy John’s. You’ll find us on the opposite side of the street. We’re right near city hall, and across the street from a/perture Cinema.

For visitors to the area, if you’re staying at the Marriott, Embassy Suites, Kimpton Cardinal, Hotel Indigo, or Hampton Inn you’ll be pleased to know how close by you’ll find our bakery. If occasion brings you to the Benton Convention Center, we’re only two blocks away.
